DOCTOR VISIT SCARE!

I had quite a scare this past Tuesday! I went to my routine doctors appointment to check up on baby Samantha when all of a sudden the nurse rushes in my room and asks me if I'm having any pains, in which I answered "No". Apparently the monitor I was hooked up to picked up on some VERY strong contractions. Considering I am not due for another 5 weeks, this was NOT good news, so the doc put me on some meds to control the contractions, pulled me from work and has me on strict bed rest! For those of you that know what a active person I am due to my mild case of OCD (lol), bed rest is like a prison sentence!!! But gotta follow doctors orders to assure baby Samantha doesn't arrive until she's ready to :) On the bright side, this bed rest will give me plenty of time to make some new minis.

THE TRIM IS DONE!

Alex and I finally finished the chair rail trim in the nursery and considering we have never done this before I think it turned out quite nicely :) Alex finished builfing the crib and the changing table. Now all we need is a dresser, a nursing chair and a couple of shelves and then I get the fun job of decorating the room with bedding and accesories! I am having a blast putting together the nursery!

LATEST ULTRA SOUND

I had two doctors appointments yesterday and good news is that Samantha  is doing GREAT! Doc says she's super healthy though she is a little big. At 31 weeks she should only be weighing in at 4 lbs and instead she's 4 lbs 12 oz..... that's almost 1 lb more than she should be weighing! He says she seems to have a big head and big cheeks.... sounds to me like she's taking after me!! hahahaha

OUR BABY SHOWER

Our baby shower was this past Saturday, October 8th and it was at Scholl Canyon Park in the Glendale Hills. It was a beautiful sunny day and Alex made some delish teppan food that everyone loved not to mention that the Cuban Rum cake from Porto's Bakery was amazing. We had a wonderful time and were surrounded by family and friends and we couldn't have asked for anything more. But there was still one surprise left..... I was really bummed that my mom was not going to be at my baby shower because she lives all the way in Miami and then Alex comes behind me and covers my eyes and when he removes his hands there is my mom!!!! She flew all the way from Miami for just ONE day so that she could be with us on my special day!!! Needless to say I started to cry because I was soo happy to have my mommy there with me :) What can I say, my mom ROCKS!!!

NURSERY IS UNDERWAY

Samanthas nursery is now painted and ready for the chair rail trim. The paint job actually came out nice considering we did it ourselves and I am hoping the trim comes out just as nice. All that's left now is to finish sanding the trim paont it and nail it to the wall. Here are some pictures of our progress on the nursery so far.

SHOPPING FOR CLOTHES

Samantha hasn't even been born yet and yet I am already buying her clothes and shoes. On my last trip to the store I couldn't help but purchase these adorable boots and cute little dress! I have a feeling this little girl is going to make me go broke! Haha

I was cleaning out an old wallet and came across a gift card from Nordstrom that was given to me last Christmas! It's always nice to find forgotten money :) Anyways I was searching the website for something to use the gift card on and I came across this adorable piggy bank that I knew would be perfect for Samantha!

MOVING DAY!!

Moving from one house to another has got to be one of my least favorite things to do! It took me one week to pack up everything in our one bedroom apartment and when moving day came, we were ready to go. In a few more days it will be 2 weeks since we moved in and we still have boxes everywhere! I don't know why but unpacking seems to be taking longer then the packing did lol.... On the bright side, baby Samantha will now have her own nursery and I can't wait to paint and decorate it. The colors I have chosen for the nursery are pink and brown. Here is an example of a nursery I saw and want to try and duplicate it. Isn't it cute? It's fit for a princess..... a princess named Samantha.

BABY RESULTS!

It has been confirmed!!! We are having a girl! Alex is beyond excited. His reaction was too cute. When the doctor said "you're having a girl, Alex yelled out "YES"!...... haha. We cannot wait to go shopping for baby Samantha. Yep that'e what we're naming her, Samantha Severina (My grandmas name) Fuentes. Has a nice ring to it if I do say so myself. I can't wait to meet you little Samantha!

BABY'S 2nd ULTRA SOUND!

I cannot believe how much the baby has grown in only 4 weeks! It went from being a little dot in the first picture to being almost a full grown baby! WOW! I am now a little over 3 months and here is the baby's second ultra sound. You can already see the little feet! How cute!

BABY'S FIRST PICTURE!

I had my first prenatal appointment last Wednesday, April 27th and the doctor did an ultra sound to find out how many weeks I was as well as show us the baby's heartbeat. As of last Wednesday, I was 6 weeks and 4 days and the baby's heartbeat was soooo little! It looked like a little flickering light. Alex and I were so excited. You could see how Alex's eyes lit up with joy. It was the most wonderful experience to actually see another living soul inside of me.


Here is baby's first official picture! He or she is still itty bitty and no bigger than a jelly bean, but if you look closely at the two plus signs you will see a white spot and that my friends is Baby Samantha or Baby Mathew.

A PACKAGE ON THE WAY!

I have very exciting news! Alex and I are goin to be parents! Our prayer for an addition to the family has finally been answered. I have yet to tell Alex becuase I want to surprise him in a very special way. We are going to dinner this Friday and that's when I plan on giving him this card that I made for him. I can't wait to see his expression :)

Alex was SUPER excited! He was so overwhelmed that he started to cry. Awww.... isn't that just so sweet!

ONE YEAR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY

Alex and I celebrated our year wedding anniversary this past Sunday in Las Vegas with some friends and we had a blast! I cannot believe it has been a year already! It seems like just yesterday that we were going on our first date. I guess the saying "Time Flies When You're Having Fun" is sooo true! This past year with Alex has been a blast and I look forward to many more years of adventures. Here are some pics we took in one of those old school photo booths. Ahhh the good times!
